RELIGIOUS AND POLITICAL ROLE OF THE KHANQAH SHUR BAZAR IN AFGHANISTAN: AN ANALYTICAL STUDY

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the vital role of Sufis of Afghanistan (Central Asia) and their impact on the social structure of the Afghan society. They briefly taught the principles of Islam in this region. As one of the biggest centers of Sufism in the Muslim World, Afghanistan is commonly called the home of Sufi Saints. Most of the eminent personalities of Islam were belonging to this region and they served intellectual and scholastic services there. The tribes of Afghanistan were historically independent and autonomous and they did not remain under any central commanding authority but they obeyed the commandments of these Sufis and followed their spiritual teachings. Monastery Shur Bazar Kabul is the biggest center of Mujaddadi order in Afghanistan and having a great impact of socio-political influence in this territory. This monastery not only spread the principal teachings of Shaykh Ahmad Sirhindi, revival of second millennium but also imprinted deep effects in the civilization of Khorasan. Through this assessment, we shall attempt to explore the influential role of these spiritual centers in socio-politics of Afghanistan and still have.
