SANCTITY OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE NON-SEMITIC RELIGIONS: A STUDY OF MUSLIM THOUGHTS
Abstract
The present paper is an attempt to discuss the holiness or sanctity of the founders of Non-Semitic religions in Muslim thoughts. It has been tried to explore the fatwa literature regarding the sanctity of the founders and holy persons of Hinduism, Buddhism and Zoroastrianism. Most of these fatwas are given by the eminent scholars of Indian subcontinent. It is interesting the Muslim scholars are of the view that the respect of the founders of the non-Semitic religions is also obligatory as it is for the founders of all religions of Ibrahimic tradition. This study helps us to promote tolerance and harmony in the multi-religious and pluralistic global society.
